Maria João Álvaro Albuquerque Martins was born in Oliveira do Hospital (Portugal) in 1994. She obtained her degree in Chemistry at the Faculdade de Ciências da Universidade de Lisboa in 2015. During the last year of the degree she realized a final work on “Synthesis of oxadiazole derivatives with biological activity” under the supervision of Dr. Cristina Moiteiro. After this, she did the master in the same University, and developed a final project in “Synthesis and evaluation of the anticancer activity of novel thiobenzanilides” on the supervisor of Prof. Dr. Susana Santos and Prof. Dr. Rita Pacheco. In November 2017 she joined the research group of Prof. Ángela Sastre-Santos as a PhD student.
