Dr. Julio Alvarez has developed his research in the University Miguel Hernandez de Elche since October 1999. In recent years he has worked in the field of photorefractive materials, focusing his research activity in the synthesis and characterization of new polymers bearing nonlinear optical chromophores and charge carriers. Previously, his research work focused on the synthesis of polymers with applications in membranes, both used reverse osmosis water desalination plants, as for gas separation. Its activity has been mainly developed at Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC) in Spain, although he has completed part of his research during a 4-month stay at the State University of North Carolina, USA. His research has resulted in several publications in international journals, 6 international and 9 national congresses as well as active participation in 6 national and 2 international projects. Also, during a hiatus of 6 months in its research activity between CSIC and the University, he was responsible for R & D lab of one of the major Spanish companies in the blinds industry, based in Valencia.
